Strategic Partner Dead

Oklahoma stallion Strategic Partner was euthanized Feb. 4 after breaking a leg.

Strategic Partner, whose first foals are 2-year-olds, was euthanized Feb. 4 after breaking a leg in a paddock accident at Charlton Ranch near Washington, Okla. The 10-year-old son of Kris S. out of the graded stakes-winning Majestic Light mare Very Special Lite was owned by a partnership.

Bred in Kentucky by Prestonwood Farm, Strategic Partner won the 2001 Crown Royal American Turf Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Churchill Downs and placed in seven other stakes, all graded on turf. Trained by Mark Hennig, he won or placed in 16 of 21 races and earned $353,821 for Lee Lewis.

Strategic Partner covered 27 mares in 2007.
