Stallion Video: Mustafar

Mustanfar, by Alan Porter

This multiple graded stakes winning and grade I placed performer has black type performances on turf, dirt. and all-weather surfaces to his credit. By Unbridled, he is out of a daughter of English champion 2-year-old filly Height of Fashion (FR), subsequently the dam of six stakes winners including champions Nashwan, Nayef, and Unfuwain, and third dam of champion turf mare Lahudood (GB).

Out of a Northern Dancer-line mare, Mustanfar should be fine to cross back over Northern Dancer bloodlines. Strains that have done well under Unbridled and his sons include Storm Cat, Nijinsky II, Nureyev, Deputy Minister, and Danzig.

Mustanfar’s dam is half-sister to a great runner in Nashwan, a son of Blushing Groom (FR), and Unbridled and Unbridled’s Song have shown an affinity for that strain, particularly through Rahy and Mt. Livermore. In Reality has worked here through the Valid Appeal, Relaunch, and Known Fact branches. Caro (IRE), who carries their male line ancestor, War Relic, through Relic is also good. Crossing back over Mustanfar’s own Raise a Native sire line, potentially through Alydar, could also pay dividends. — by Alan Porter
