OBS Spring Sale Begins Monday

More than 1,300 juveniles are cataloged.

Edited Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. press release

The Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training  begins its four-day run Monday in Central Florida. It is the largest auction of the juvenile selling season, with 1,381 horses cataloged. Each session will start at 10:30 a.m. (EDT).

Many of the sale’s offerings are in the middle and lower end of the market, but the auction has produced 11 racetrack millionaires. Last year’s graduates include 19 stakes winners. One of them,  Wicked Style, scored in the Lane’s End  Breeders’ Futurity (gr. I) and the Arlington-Washington Futurity (gr. III).

During the 2007 edition of the auction, the median price held steady at $17,000, but the average price declined 11.1% from the previous year to $28,879. The gross revenue dropped 7.6% to $22,698,400. The buy-back rate was 28.0%.
