Critikola, dam of grade I winner Lemons Forever, died at Kip and Suzanne Knelman’s Farfellow Farms near Paris, Ky. She delivered a Bluegrass Cat colt April 2.

The Knelmans raced Critikola after the mare arrived from her native Argentina in 2000.  Trained by William Spawr, she competed solely in stakes in the U.S., placing in the 2001 Santa Margarita Invitational (gr. I) and Santa Maria (gr. I) Handicaps.

Critikola retired with eight wins from 22 starts and earnings of $170,539.  She won a pair of group II events in Argentina.

Lemons Forever, by Lemon Drop Kid and the first foal out of Critikola, captured the 2006 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I). She later placed in the Alabama Stakes (gr. I).

Critikola’s next foal, the filly Critikal Reason, was stakes-placed. She is being bred to Lemon Drop Kid.

Critikola also is the dam of a winning 3-year-old male named Overbid and an unnamed North Light yearling colt.

Foaled  in 1995, Critikola was by Tough Critic out of the Keats mare Hola Keats.
