F-T Midlantic Sale Has 650 Juveniles

Auction is scheduled for May 19 and 20 in Maryland.

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged 650 horses for its Midlantlic preferred sale of 2-year-olds in training, which will be held May 19 and 20 at Timonium in Maryland. Under tack shows are scheduled for May 14 and 15.

Last year, there were 656 juveniles in the book.

Horses offered at the auction usually fall in the middle to lower end of the juvenile market. The 2007 sale topper, a Broken Vow colt that was later named Grand Vow, brought $575,000.

Other results from last year’s auction included an all-time high of $34,500 for the median price. The gross of $19,498,700 for the 350 horses sold represented an 8.2% decline from the sale record of $21,236,500 that had been established in 2006. The average price of $55,711 was down 2.9% from the auction’s all-time high of $57,396 in 2006. The buy-back rate rose to 28.0% from 27.2% the previous year.
