Del Mar Promotes Josh Rubenstein to V.P.

Josh Rubinstein has been named the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club's vice president for development, it was announced April 25.

Rubinstein, 38, has been director of marketing at Del Mar since 2003 after starting at the track in 1995. In his new role he will handle a broad range of responsibilities, including sponsorships, corporate marketing, simulcasting and wagering development and broadcast production.

"Josh is one of our rising stars," said Joe Harper, DMTC president and general manager.

Rubinstein joins four others as a vice president on the Del Mar staff: Craig Fravel, DMTC’s executive vice president; Mike Ernst, senior vice president and CFO; Craig Dado, vice president of marketing, and Tom Robbins, vice president of racing and racing secretary.

Rubinstein was born in New York City but moved with his family at age 11 to the San Diego area. He attended San Diego State University and worked summers at Del Mar for both the marketing and media departments. Upon graduating from San Diego State, he went to work for several years with ABC Sports before returning to full-time employment at Del Mar.
