New York Racing Association simulcasts will return to 16 East Coast tracks, thanks to an agreement signed May 8 between the NYRA and the Mid-Atlantic Cooperative.

The simulcast agreement will go into effective May 9, ending an impasse between NYRA and Mid-Atlantic that began with the opening of Belmont Park April 30.

“NYRA is very pleased to have this agreement in place with such a major simulcast partner, “said Hal Handel, NYRA executive vice president and COO. “We are glad to bring our races back to the fans at Mid-Atlantic tracks, and I’m sure the fans will be happy to have NYRA races back, especially as we head into the heart of the New York racing season.”

Mid-Atlantic Cooperative consists of Meadowlands, Monmouth Park, Freehold Raceway, Atlantic City Race Course, Philadelphia Park, Penn National Race Course, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Charles Town Races, Delaware Park, Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway, Ocean Downs, Rosecroft Raceway, Colonial Downs, Suffolk Downs, and and their various off-track betting entities.

NYRA operates Saratoga Race Course, Aqueduct and Belmont Park. Previous to today’s agreement, NYRA and the Mid-Atlantic Cooperative had signed a separate agreement that would have permitted Mid-Atlantic tracks to simulcast the 140th running of the June 7 Belmont Stakes (gr. I).
