Coolmore's 2008 Fees Set

Coolmore Australia flexes its might again

It is little wonder the Australian-bred galloper is gaining credibility all over the world. This fact was confirmed yet again by Coolmore announcing its stunning roster of stallions to stand down under in 2008. Clearly the Irish are matching horse for horse the onslaught of the Arabs who are standing 33 stallions in Australia this year (this includes the Woodlands sires they acquired two months ago).

Coolmore will stand 18, five of them brand new to the roster.

The noticeable absentee this year is 2000 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner Fusaichi Pegasus . His bloodline will be available though through his champion son Haradasun (out Circles Of Gold), who will debut for $55,000 (about $52,700 in U.S. funds).

Both global powerhouses have flexed their sizable muscles through both the quality and number of stallions and have made new 'big boys' on the block, Patinack Farm, re-evaluate its entry into the stallions ranks.

Patinack Farm also announced its roster of four stallions. The new farm will stand group I winner Casino Prince (Flying Spur--Lady Capel, by Last Tycoon). Casino Prince, a $140,000  sale yearling, will stand his debut season at a fee of $38,500  at the farm’s New South Wales property. Argentine champion Husson (Hussonet--Villa Elisa, by Roy)  will stand at Patinack Farm in New South Wales. His fee is $30,250.

Group I winner Wonderful World (Agnes World--Success Tale, by Success Express) will stand his initial season at Victoria’s Independent Stallion Station at Nagambie, under the care of Mike Becker on behalf of Patinack. Wonderful World will stand for $22,000.

Beautiful Crown (Chief’s Crown--Beautiful Glass, by Pass the Glass) has sired stakes performers in each of his crops to date, including group I winner In Top Swing. He will stand at $16,500 at Patinack Farm at Aberdeen.

Coolmore's roster will be headed by soon-to-be-anointed Australian champion sire Encosta de Lago (Fairy King--Shoal Creek, by Star Way), who will stand this year at $302,000 --the second-highest fee in Australia behind Arrowfield's Redoute's Choice. Coolmore's new boy Dylan Thomas will stand for $44,000.
