Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino will host a silent auction July 16 during the "Ridin' the Storm Out Flood Relief Concert” featuring REO Speedwagon, with special guest Little River Band.

The silent auction will begin at 4:30 p.m. CDT and continue through the outdoor concert until 10:00 p.m. All proceeds from the auction and ticket sales will go directly toward Iowa flood relief efforts, and Polk County will match the totals.

The silent auction will include numerous collectors’ items, such as signed guitars from REO Speedwagon and Little River Band, and sports collectibles signed by 2008 Olympic athlete Lolo Jones, NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, Indianapolis Colts tight end Dallas Clark, Iowa and Iowa State football coaches Kirk Ferentz and Gene Chizik, the Iowa Cubs baseball team, the 2008 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) jockeys, and National Hall of Fame Thoroughbred jockeys.

The auction will include gift packages from Blank Park Zoo, Iowa Barnstormers, Iowa Energy, Iowa Speedway, and a “Time For Me To Fly” helicopter ride for two with KCCI meteorologist John McLaughlin.

Tickets are $20 and they may be purchased at the Prairie Meadows box office (8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) and all Ticketmaster outlets. In support of the benefit, Ticketmaster has agreed to waive all convenience and handling fees.

Doors will open at 4:30, and the Nadas’ Jason Walsmith and Mike Butterworth will open the concert, followed by Little River Band at 6:30 p.m. and REO Speedwagon at 8:00 p.m.

“With more than 50 terrific auction items, this is a perfect opportunity to raise even more money for the flood relief effort,” Prairie Meadows chief executive officer Gary Palmer said. “We hope people take advantage of this great auction knowing their contribution is going to a worthy cause.”
