Tattersalls Ireland Sale Has 504 Lots

Tattersalls Ireland stages the country’s first yearling auction of 2008 Sept. 23 and 24. There are 504 lots cataloged for the September sale, which will be held at the company’s Fairyhouse headquarters in County Meath.
The auction has moved from an early September slot in 2007 and 2006 to its traditional time later in the month and has been pruned from three days to two this year with about 200 fewer lots cataloged.
It is the first European sale since the dramatic happenings on the world’s financial markets seen last week.
The sale’s 2007 edition generated a gross of 8,998,400 euros, an average price of 18,984 euros, a median price of 13,000 euros, and a top price for an individual horse of 150,000 euros.
One yearling with a recent pedigree update is lot 155, an Alamshar half-sister to this season’s group III Prix de Rochette winner Soul City that was bought for 30,000 euros as a foal by Liam Mulryan.
Some of the best pages come from Darley-bred youngsters including lot 382, a Diktat half-brother to 2005 group I English One Thousand Guineas third finisher Vista Bella; lot 139, the only member of Indian Ridge’s last crop for sale; and lot 324, a Kheleyf colt out of the group I Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Belle Genius.
The dearest pinhooks include lot 199, Humor Me Rene, a U.S.-bred Kitten’s Joy filly that was brought by the Sheehy brothers for $55,000 at last year’s Keeneland November breeding stock sale and reappears in the consignment of Brendan Holland’s Grove Stud.
Lot 112, a first-crop Whipper half-brother to group II Mill Reef Stakes winner Bouncing Bowdler, was bought for 38,000 guineas as a foal and reappears in the consignment of  Neilstown Stud.
Meanwhile, lot 317, a first-crop Antonius Pius colt offered by Peter Molony’s Rathmore Stud, was bought for 46,000 euros as a foal.
