Belgravia to Hartley/DeRenzo in Ocala

Belgravia, winner of the grade III Hollywood Prevue Stakes, will enter stud at Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds in Ocala, Fla., for a 2009 fee of $5,000.

Bred in Kentucky by Margaret Patterson and Spendthrift Farm, the son of Mr. Greeley was initially purchased by Bloodstock Services for $190,000 as a weanling from the Spendthrift consignment to the 2004 Keeneland November sale. Consigned by Woods Edge Farm to the 2005 Keeneland September yearling sale, he was purchased by D&B Ventures for $180,000.

The following year, he was a $2-million purchase by Demi O'Byrne when consigned by Nick de Meric, agent, to the Fasig-Tipton Calder February 2-year-olds in training sale.

Racing for Michael B. Tabor, Mrs. John Magnier, Ahmed Zayat, and Derrick Smith, Belgravia won two of five career starts and earned $127,115.

“Belgravia has that all-important brilliance at two, and he excelled over all-weather surfaces,” said Dean De Renzo, co-owner of Hartley/De Renzo. “He is the only graded stakes winner in Florida by world class sire Mr. Greeley, whose son sired a Breeders’ Cup winner in his first crop last year. He is also from the immediate family of Afleet Alex. We are very excited at his stud prospects.”
