Cigar Wins Simulated Racing Game

The virtual game featured the top BC Classic winners, including Curlin.

The Breeders’ Cup and Horse Racing Simulation LLC, a leading developer of horse racing and virtual racing simulations, unveiled the “Dream Classic,” a simulation featuring some of the greatest Breeders’ Cup Classic winners over the last 24 years in a showdown with defending Breeders’ Cup Classic Champion and North America’s all-time richest horse Curlin to determine his place among the great champions. In a tight race with Curlin closing, Cigar holds off Skip Away followed by Curlin to finish first in the “Dream Classic.” A simulation of the race can be viewed at

The simulation was done in advance of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, where Curlin will look to help define his legacy when he races in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) Oct. 25 at Santa Anita Park.

The Dream field includes: Curlin, Invasor (2006 winner and Horse of the Year), Ghostzapper (2004 winner and Horse of the Year), Tiznow (the only horse to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic twice – 2000 and 2001), Awesome Again (winner in 1988 and the sire of Ghostzapper), Skip Away (1997 winner and the second-fastest Breeders’ Cup Classic time), Cigar (1995 winner and leading North American money-earner until this year), Sunday Silence (1989 winner and Horse of the Year) and Alysheba (1988 winner and 1989 Horse of the Year).  The results:

Utilizing a sophisticated software program with state-of-the-art 3D graphics and after inputting more than 250 attributes and thousands of randomized factors the Breeders' Cup and Horse Racing Simulation ran the race over 1,000 times and came up with a realistic outcome if all nine champion Thoroughbreds ever faced each other.

The Breeders’ Cup and Horse Racing Simulation LLC are also providing, for the second year in a row, their interactive simulation game featuring simulations of six of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup World Championships races with all entered horses and post positions for fan enjoyment and as a handicapping tool. A simulation of the “Dream Classic” and the six 2008 Breeders’ Cup World Championship simulated races are available at
