Livin Lovin Rolls to Tempted Stakes Win

Birdstone lass overcomes favored Gemswick Park to post 4 1/4-length victory.

Livin Lovin overtook favored Gemswick Park inside the furlong pole and rolled to a 4 1/4-length romp in the $107,800 Tempted Stakes (gr. III) (VIDEO) for 2-year-old fillies at Aqueduct Nov. 2.

Ramon Dominguez rode the daughter of 2004 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Birdstone  to victory in the one-turn mile event for owners Puglisi Racing and Woodfield Stables and trainer Steve Klesaris. The final time was 1:36.89. Livin Lovin, second in the Mazarine Stakes (Can-III) over Woodbine's Polytrack in her most recent start Oct. 5, earned her first stakes victory.

The pacesetter Gemswick Park and John Velazquez finished a clear second by four lengths over Morning Chatter and Eibar Coa. Tom Albertrani saddled both the place and show horses.

Gemswick Park, the 8-5 favorite in the field of six, had every opportunity after being staked to a one-length lead while posting easy quarter-mile fractions of :23.59, :47.43 and 1:12.47. Livin Lovin tracked in second while on the rail, angling out a bit for the stretch drive and responding when asked by Dominguez to challenge the leader. Livin Lovin put a head in front with a furlong to go and drew off under good handling.

“She was a little green through the stretch, but it was only her fourth start and first time over this track," Dominguez said. "Overall, she did everything very well. She was pretty full of run at the end.”

Livin Lovin has two wins and two seconds in four starts with earnings of $134,068 after collecting the Tempted winning share of $64,680. The bay fllly broke her maiden by eight lengths at Delaware Park Sept. 23 prior to her effort in the Mazarine. In that race, she led at the eighth pole while sent off as the favorite and was overtaken in the final strides by Van Lear Rose.

“Four races, four racetracks and never worse than second," noted Molly Jo Rosen, racing manager for Puglisi Racing. "You can’t go wrong with a filly like that. Obviously, we trust Steve (Klesaris) and his judgment. If she’s sound and healthy there is no reason not to think she can’t run again this year.”

David Soblick bred Livin Lovin in Kentucky. She is out of the Captain Bodgit mare Nurse Margaret.

Sent off as the second choice, Livin Lovin paid $6, $3 and $2.30. Gemswick Park, favored off of her third-place finish in the Frizette Stakes (gr. I) in her stakes debut one month ago, returned $3 and $2.40 while completing a $14.80 exacta. Morning Chatter, making her second lifetime start, was $3 to show.

Pull Dancer, Obsequious and Fools in Love trailed.
