Byron Colt Tops Goffs' Second Day

Trade picked during the second session of Goffs’ November foal sale in Ireland’s Co. Kildare Nov. 18. Although figures were still short of their 2007 equivalents, the gaps were less dramatic than at Nov. 17's pipe-opener.

The 784,000-euro turnover was down 35%, but the 9,446-euro average price fell only 10%, and the median price was unchanged at 5,000 euros.The clearance rate was just 38.9%.

A son of Darley first-crop sire Byron out of Topiary topped the day when selling from the Ballincurra Stud consignment for 58,000 euros to agent Peter Doyle. Meanwhile, Coolmore freshman stallion Ad Valorem had a 47,000-euro colt bought by Ciaran "Flash" Conroy’s Glenvale Stud. Consigned by Lewinstown Farm, the weanling is out of Palatine Dancer.
