The owners of undefeated Trinity Magic have pledged a portion of the winning purse to the Blessed Trinity Church if the colt wins the $750,000 Delta Jackpot Stakes (gr. III) Dec. 5.
Jim and Treasa Donnan and Terry and Pam Bailey have agreed to donate $25,000 to the Ocala-based Catholic school, which also benefited when Trinity Magic sold as a 2-year-old. In addition, the owners said if their juvenile by Performing Magicembarks on the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) trail, they will donate $25,000 for every Derby prep race he wins.
Trained by Steve Asmussen, Trinity Magic has won all three of his starts, including two New York stakes, and has earned $158,040. Last time out he won the Sleepy Hollow Stakes at Belmont Park by seven lengths, running the mile in 1:35.95.
“Everyone who hears the story about this horse being purchased as a donation for the Blessed Trinity Church finds it inspiring,” said Jim Donnan. “My brother-in-law Terry just became a one-third partner in the horse, and he suggested we continue the efforts to help the church. We are all very excited about Trinity Magic, and very impressed with the way the consignors banded together to help the church.”
