Alix Road Sets Pace at Arqana Sale

Alix Road, a 5-year-old daughter of Linamix, brought the top price of 310,000 euros to top the opening session of the Arqana December breeding stock sale in France. Xaviar Bozo’s Intercontinental Bloodstock purchased her from Hara des Capucines Dec. 6.

Produced from the Persian Heights mare Life On the Road, Alix Road has won three of her 20 races and has finished second or third in six stakes. Her efforts include a third-place finish in the 2006 Montjeu Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary (Fr-I).

Gulf Breeze, a 3-year-old unraced daughter of Dubai Destination out of the Sadler’s Wells mare Dance of Leaves, brought 300,000 euros from the Syndicat Astronomer Royal. Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation was the filly’s consignor. She is a half-sister to group I winners Medaaly and Charnwood Forest, who was a European champion.

A Galileo – Arazena weanling colt was sold to Horse France for 300,000 euros. His consignor was Haras de Saint Isidro.

The 148 horses that sold (from 207 offered) grossed 5,653,000 euros and averaged 38,196 euros. The median price was 16,000 euros. Compared to 2007, the gross plunged 34.1% while the average dropped 38.6%. The median plummeted 42.9%.

Last year, during the first session, the 138 horses that were sold grossed 8,581,000 euros and averaged 62,181 euros. The median was 28,000 euros.

Three  horses were sold privately this year, grossing 199,500 euros. In 2007, nine horses were sold privately for 449,000 euros.
