Brownie Points Retired

Graded stakes winner Brownie Points won or placed in 20 stakes.

Brownie Points, who competed in nothing but stakes after breaking her maiden in her second start, has been retired from racing and booked to leading third-crop sire Street Cry. The 5-year-old daughter of Forest Wildcat won or placed in 21 of 27 races and earned $951,230.

A homebred for Josephine Abercrombie’s Pin Oak Stable, Brownie Points was a stakes winner all four years she raced. She enjoyed her best season this year. The Midwest-based mare captured the Ouija Board Distaff Handicap (gr. IIIT), beat males in winning the Edward J. DeBartolo Sr. Memorial Handicap on turf, and ran second to unbeaten Zenyatta in this year’s Apple Blossom Handicap (gr. I) while finishing ahead of defending champion older female Ginger Punch.

“She was a great filly,” said trainer Donnie Von Hemel about the Kentucky-bred. “She won eight stakes and was a stakes winner on dirt and turf.”

Brownie Points captured three stakes on dirt. Overall, she won or placed in 20 added-money races.

Brownie Points is out of the stakes-placed Forty Niner mare Stylish Society, whose graded stakes-winning half-sister, Stylish Star, is both a stakes-producing dam and granddam.
