Jet Spur Colt Tops Last MM Sale Session

The Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions yearling sale ended its seven-session run Jan. 16 on Australia’s Gold Coast. The 118 yearlings that sold on the auction’s final day grossed Aust$1,105,500 (approximately $730,293 in U.S. funds) and averaged Aust$9,369 ($6,189). The clearance rate was 78.2%.

The top-priced yearling sold was a Jet Spur – Priced colt. Gavin Duffy purchased the yearling for Aust$50,000($30,030)  from Klemley Park.

“It’s been a great sale,” said Magic Millions managing director David Chester. “We were glad to have such strong figures after a very uncertain outlook leading into the new year. We worked extremely hard to attract the best possible buying bench to each day of the sale, and we are sure those buyers have been delighted with the value on offer.”

During the sixth session Jan. 15, 147 horses were sold for a gross of Aust$3,252,000 ($2,177,181) and an average of Aust$22,122 ($14,811). The clearance rate was 71%.

The top-priced horse was a Flying Spur – Concoct colt purchased by trainer Kelly Schweida for Aust$105,000 ($70,296) from Racetree, agent.
