Castellano Taken to Hospital After Fall

Jaockey complains of pain in his right shoulder.

(Edited Gulfstream Park press release)

Jockey Javier Castellano was sent to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., complaining of pain in his right shoulder after falling from his mount, Presto Change O, in the third race at Gulfstream Park Jan. 31.

Presto Change O ducked in at the start, rushed into contention, then clipped heels with another horse, forcing Castellano from the saddle. Castellano, one of the nation’s top riders, took off his remaining mounts.

Moments earlier, Julien Leparoux was dropped by his mount Polished at the start of the same race. Leparoux walked off the track on his own power and came back to win the fourth, fifth, and seventh races of the day. He had won four races Jan. 30.
