The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association announced Feb. 27 its 2009 National Awards Dinner will be held at B. Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Farm Sept. 11.
“We are thrilled to host the awards dinner this year,” said Ned Toffey, general manager of Spendthrift Farm. “We proudly open our gates and join with TOBA in celebrating the accomplishments of the nation’s leading breeders and owners.”
The TOBA Awards Dinner honors the achievements of Thoroughbred owners in the four major North American racing regions and breeders in 26 states. Also honored at the dinner are the nation’s top breeders, owners, and The Racing Game’s new owner of the year.
“The tradition and brand recognition of Spendthrift Farm make it a perfect host for our National Awards Dinner,” said Dan Metzger, president of TOBA. “We are very appreciative of B. Wayne Hughes’ commitment to hosting the awards dinner and look forward to a special evening honoring the leading owners and breeders in our sport.”
Entertainment for the evening will be announced at a later date. Past performers at the annual event have included Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Aretha Franklin, Uncle Kracker, Three Dog Night, Sawyer Brown, Clint Black, and Blood Sweat & Tears.
