(from Santa Anita notes)
Stardom Bound, champion 2-year-old filly of 2008, breezed five furlongs on Pro-Ride in 1:01 2/5 March 1 for the $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) March 7, which is expected to be her second start of the year.
Goncalino Almeida was aboard the gray filly, who could possibly move on to face males in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I) April 4 if all goes well in the 1 1/6-mile Oaks.
Stardom Bound, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Tapit from the barn of Bobby Frankel, has won four consecutive grade I races, most recently capturing the one-mile Las Virgenes Stakes (gr. I) Feb. 7. Owned by the partnership of IEAH, Paul Pompa Jr., Michael Dubb, and Golden Goose Entertainment, Stardom Bound is perfect in three starts on the Pro-Ride, including a victory in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) at Santa Anita last fall.
For her career, Stardom has four wins in six starts with two runner-up showings and earnings if $1,600,600.
A small field is likely for the 70th Santa Anita Oaks. Stardom Bound, who will be ridden by Mike Smith, is joined on the probable list by Beltene, Joel Rosario; Nan, Corey Nakatani; and Will O Way, Russell Baze.
