Grade II Winner Jibboom Retired

Retired Juddmonte grade II winner Jibboom is booked to farm stallion Empire Maker.

Jibboom, a graded stakes winner on dirt and turf for Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms, has been retired from racing because of a suspensory injury. The homebred 5-year-old daughter of Juddmonte stallion Mizzen Mast  is scheduled to arrive March 18 at the Lexington farm.

Trained by Bobby Frankel in Southern California, Jibboom was enjoying her best season. She started the year with a victory in the Monrovia Handicap (gr. IIIT) and then ran second in the Santa Monica Handicap (gr. I) to 2008 Eclipse Award runner-up Ventura. In what was her final race, she captured the Feb. 16 Buena Vista Handicap (gr. II).

Jibboom won or placed in nine of 11 races and earned $487,600. She also captured the 2007 Lexus Raven Run Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland

Jibboom is booked to Juddmonte stallion Empire Maker .

“It’s a good match physically and because of their pedigrees,” said Juddmonte farm manager Garrett O’Rourke.

Jibboom’s dam, Palisade (by Gone West), is in foal to Mizzen Mast and is booked back to him.
