Taylor’s Tiger, a bay son of Roar of the Tiger, brought $77,000 to top the John Franks Memorial sale of 2-year-olds in training March 22 at Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in Louisiana. Midwest Thoroughbred purchased the Louisiana-bred colt from Southwind Farm.

Bred by Tammy Hassenpflug and Chad Hassenpflug, Taylor’s Tiger is a half-brother to the winner Gratified (by Afternoon Deelites), who finished third in the 2008 John Franks Memorial Sales Stakes at Evangeline Downs. Their dam, Salty Suzy, is a 12-year-old winning daughter of Salt Lake.

Stemmans, the auction’s administrator, reported that 199 juveniles sold for a gross of $1,736,700 and an average price of $8,727.

Midwest Thoroughbred also bought the sale’s highest-priced filly, Moreluckthansense, for $62,000. A daughter of More Than Ready , Moreluckthansense is out of the 14-year-old winning Theatrical mare Nokia and is a full sister to the winner Hopes and Dreams, who was third in the 2007 Duda Stakes at Belmont Park.

Georgia Farms bred Moreluckthansense in Louisiana. Elysian Bloodstock, agent, consigned the bay filly to the 2008 Fasig-Tipton Texas August yearling sale, where she was purchased for $35,000 by John Tavormina. Ricky Courville consigned Moreluckthansense to the John Franks Memorial auction.
