25% Interest in Stardom Bound to Lanzman

Edited press release

David J. Lanzman, who announced March 30 that 50% of his homebred Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) contender I Want Revenge  had been sold to IEAH Stables, has purchased 25% of IEAH’s champion filly and Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) contender Stardom Bound.

Stardom Bound was the 2-year-old champion filly of 2008 and will make her next start in the $400,000 Ashland Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland Race Course on April 4.
“I am thrilled to be a part of this great filly’s 2009 campaign,” Lanzman said in making the announcement March 31.  “She’s an amazingly talented filly and we are expecting a big effort from her in next weekend’s Ashland Stakes.  We’re looking forward to the thrill of running a starter in both of the industry’s two biggest races for three year-olds at this year’s Oaks and Derby.”
“We are thrilled to further our relationship with David soon after closing on the I Want Revenge transaction,” said IEAH’s president, Michael Iavarone.  “We look forward to continuing to further this relationship in the future.  We're excited about the opportunity to have leading contenders in both the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.”
The 3-year-old daughter of Tapit  is now owned by IEAH, Lanzman, Paul Pompa Jr., Michael Dubb, and Golden Goose Enterprises LLC.  She has five consecutive grade I victories to her credit, including her most recent score in the March 7 Santa Anita Oaks. In 2008 she won the grade I Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Her career earnings to date total $1,780,600.
