Wildcat Heir Sires First Winner

Wildcat Heir's first winner scores at Santa Anita.

Grade I winner Wildcat Heir came through with his first winner when his daughter 2-year-old Kitty in the Bag won April 1 at Santa Anita in her first start for owners Patrick and Elizabeth Everard. Breaking from the outside in the two-furlong maiden special weight race, Kitty in the Bag set the pace and won by 3 1/4 lengths in :21.11 (VIDEO). She is her sire’s first starter.

Wildcat Heir (Forest Wildcat—Penniless Heiress, by Pentelicus) stands for $6,500 at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud near Ocala, Fla. Kitty in the Bag was bred in Florida by Kenneth Breitenbecker Jr., the Journeyman general manager.

Kitty in the Bag is the second winner from two foals of racing age from the Friendly Lover mare Gold Bag Lady. Kitty in the Bag is a half-sister to Mexican grade I stakes-placed Panhandler.

Wildcat Heir finished first or second in 10 of 12 races. His big win came in the 2004 Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash Stakes (gr. I).
