Weekend in Indy, dam of graded stakes winners Any Given Saturday and Bohemian Lady, died in mid-January from foaling complications. The foal she was carrying, a full brother to grade I winner and millionaire Any Given Saturday (by Distorted Humor ), did not survive.
A 14-year-old daughter of A.P. Indy, Weekend in Indy was owned by Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt’s WinStar Farm. Distorted Humor stands at WinStar, which is located near Versailles, Ky.
Troutt’s wife, Lisa, bought Weekend in Indy for $290,000 at the 2000 Keeneland November breeding stock from Lane’s End, agent. Weekend in Indy was in foal to Carson City. The resultant offspring, Bohemian Lady, won three New York stakes, including the 2004 Cicada Stakes (gr. III).
Any Given Saturday was one of the top 3-year-olds of 2007. He scored important wins in that year’s Haskell Invitational (gr. I) and Dwyer (gr. II) Stakes and the Brooklyn Handicap (gr. II). He stands at Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley USA near Lexington.
Weekend in Indy, who was bred in Kentucky by Lane’s End owner William S. Farish in partnership with Harriet S. Jones, raced for Donald A. Adam, winning or placing in five of 11 starts.
Weekend in Indy’s youngest foal is a Distorted Humor yearling colt. Weekend in Indy’s 3-year-old daughter, Weekend Whim (by Distorted Humor), is set to become a member of the WinStar broodmare band.
A half-sister to graded stakes winner Second of June, Weekend in Indy was produced from the stakes-winning Spectacular Bid mare Whow.
