Evita Argentina Headlines Beaumont Cast

Southern California shipper defeated males in the San Vicente Stakes last time out.

After defeating males in her most recent start in the San Vicente Stakes (gr. II) at Santa Anita, Evita Argentina headlines a field of seven 3-year-old fillies in $150,000 Beaumont Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland April 8.

Trained by Southern California-based John Sadler for Halo Farms and Three Sisters Thoroughbreds, Evita Argentina will break from the rail with high weight weight of 121 pounds. She spots her rivals four pounds apiece. Garrett Gomez, who won last year’s Beaumont on Ariege, has the riding assignment.

In addition to her San Vicente score Feb. 16, Evita Argentina also won the Sorrento (gr. III) at Del Mar last August and the Moccasin at Hollywood Park in November. The chestnut daughter of Candy Ride  has four wins and a second in seven starts and earnings of $324,900.

The only other stakes winner in the Beaumont field is Selva. Trained by David Carroll for Helen Alexander and Helen Groves, the Forest Wildcat filly has won stakes on three surfaces: the Sorority at Monmouth Park on dirt, the Glorious Song on Polytrack at Woodbine, and the Mardi Gras on turf at Fair Grounds. The dark bay has won four of five starts with one second and will be seeking her first graded score. She has earned $221,649.

Robby Albarado, who rode Selva to victory in the Mardi Gras, has the mount and will break from post 3. Albarado has won the Beaumont twice, in 1999 with Swingin On Ice and in 1997 on Screamer, who dead-heated with Make Haste for the victory.

No Speed Limit, a Malibu Moon  homebred owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey, brings a three-race winning streak into the Beaumont. She will be making her stakes debut for trainer Wesley Ward.

Ken McPeek entered two fillies. Loveyou Everybody, fourth in the Delta Princess (gr. III) at Delta Downs in December, makes her seasonal debut. War Kill has back-to-back wins, most recently taking a first-level allowance race at Gulfstream Park March 1.

Maiden winners Consequence, making her second start of the year for trainer Shug McGaughey, and Dave's Revenge, looking to snap a five-race losing streak for trainer Bob Hess Jr., complete the Beaumont field.
