(Edited Woodford Thoroughbreds press release)
John Sykes and Tony Ferguson’s Woodford Thoroughbreds will offer its first consignment at the Fasig-Tipton July select yearling auction in Lexington. The operation also will sell horses at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select and Keeneland September yearling sales.
Woodford Thoroughbreds’ 600-acre nursery is located near Versailles, Ky. The farm’s 75-member broodmare band includes Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Turko’s Turn, champion Xtra Heat, and the dams of champion Banshee Breeze and grade I winners Kodiak Kowboy, Harmony Lodge, Tout Charmant, and Military. Among Woodford Thoroughbreds’ other mares are grade I winners Set Play, Celtic Melody, and La Gueriere.
Woodford Thoroughbreds plans to sell approximately 60 yearlings this year, according to the operation’s general manager Matt Lyons. The yearlings will be previewed at the farm two weeks prior to each auction. Interested buyers can contact Lyons at (859) 361-1647 or the farm office at (859) 873-4480.
“We have a beautiful group of horses,” Lyons said.
