Japanese Sale Has 161 Yearlings, 336 Foals

The select auction is scheduled for July 13-15 on the island of Hokkaido.

The Japan Racing Horse Association has cataloged 161 yearlings and 336 foals for its July select sale. The auction will be held at the Northern Horse Park on the island of Hokkaido, with the yearlings being offered July 13 and the foals being offered July 14-15.

The catalog can be viewed online beginning June 16 at the JRHA’s Web site: www.jrha.or.jp/eng/. Print versions of the catalog will be available June 26.

Foals in the sale include a Ghostzapper  colt out of out of Island Fashion, who captured the Alabama Stakes (gr. I) and La Brea Stakes (gr. I)  in 2003 and the Santa Monica Handicap (gr. I) in 2004; a Ghostzapper colt out of 1997 Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. I) winner Vivid Angel; and a Gold Allure filly out of 2001 Canadian grade I winner Dark Ending.

Among the auction’s yearlings are a Rock of Gibraltar half-brother to 2007 Japanese Horse of the Year Admire Moon and a Fuji Kiseki full brother to 2005 and 2008 Japan Cup Dirt (Jpn-I) winner Kane Hekili
