Zero Up Sets Pace at Magic Millions Sale

Tops non-select session of national broodmare auction.

(Edited Magic Millions press release)

Zero Up (by Danzero), who is in foal to Lion Heart, brought Aust$23,000 (approximately $18,256 in U.S. funds) June 7 to top the non-select session of the Magic Millions national broodmare sale on the Gold Coast of Australia. Magic Millions, acting for a Queensland-based client, purchased Zero Up from Jonel Park Thoroughbreds, agent.

Produced from the unraced Semipalatinsk mare This Way Up, Zero Up failed to win in her three career races. She is a half-sister to Australian group II winner Make Mine Magic (by Canadian Silver).

In all, 148 horses were sold for a gross of Aust$486,000 ($385,762). The average price was Aust$3,284 ($2,607), and the clearance rate was 80%.

"The astute buyers bidding today would have to have been thrilled with the stock they were able to buy for bargain prices," said Magic Millions managing director David Chester. "We had good interest from some overseas clients, and they were delighted with their purchases."
