Penn Pick Three Recalculated After Glitch

A pick three has been recalculated by Penn National after a tote failure.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course said it will make good on a pick three result that was calculated in error June 5 because of a breakdown in tote communications before post time of the second race in the sequence.

The communications breakdown allowed for betting on the second race 27 to 28 seconds after “off” time. Wagers determined to have been made after the race began were refunded after the race was made official close to midnight.

The pick three (races one through three) made official that evening (3/all/1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10) paid $17.20 for a $2 wager. In reality, the winning combination should have been 3/3/1, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10 and returned $77.40, Penn National officials said June 10.

Simulcast outlets were told Penn National will credit any advance deposit wagering bet for the additional payout as long as it’s demonstrated it was made through an ADW outlet. If a ticket was purchased, outlets must provide Penn National with claims from patrons and tote reports that correlate with the claims.

Outlets can submit claims to United Tote, and Penn National will approve any payments.
