Grade I winner Dixie Chatter has been retired from racing and will stand in 2010 at Martin and Pam Wygod’s River Edge Farm near Buellton, Calif.
Bred and raced by Herman Sarkowsky, Dixie Chatter was a stakes winner all three years he raced and a graded winner in two of them. The Kentucky-bred son of Dixie Union was the co-second-highest-weighted 2-year-old of 2007, below champion War Pass. He captured that year’s Norfolk Stakes (gr. I) at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
At 3, Dixie Chatter won a division of the Oceanside Stakes on turf at Del Mar and placed in three graded stakes, including the Oak Tree Derby (gr. IIT). This year, he took the Arcadia Handicap (gr. IIT) at Santa Anita and placed in the Frank E. Kilroe Mile Handicap (gr. IT). He retired with four wins and four stakes-placings from 13 starts and earnings of $464,606.
Dixie Chatter’s dam, Mini Chat (by Deputy Minister), is out of Sarkowsky’s homebred champion Phone Chatter. Dixie Chatter’s fee will be announced later.
