Impeachment, who ran third in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) for Dogwood Stable, will enter stud for a fee of $5,000 live foal at Barbara LaCroix' Meadowbrook of Ocala Jockey Club near Ocala, Fla. Shares are priced at $18,000. Dogwood, whose president is Cot Campbell, and Florida horseman Robert Candow will serve as syndicate managers.
Starting with the Kentucky Derby, Impeachment competed in five consecutive grade I events. The son of Deputy Minister finished behind Fusaichi Pegasus and Aptitude in the Run for the Roses, and was beaten 3 3/4 lengths in the Preakness. In the latter race, he finished only a head behind runner-up Fusaichi Pegasus.
Impeachment, who earlier placed in the Arkansas (gr. II) and Tampa Bay Derbys, suffered a tendon tear in the Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga in August, and was sent to Dr. Robert Copelan's Sunnyside Farm near Paris, Ky. No surgery was required, and he is expected to arrive at his new Florida home prior to this weekend. He enters stud with one win from 11 starts and earnings of $350,450.
Impeachment's dam, Misconduct (by Criminal Type), is a half-sister to five stakes winners, including champion sprinter Gold Beauty, dam of European champion Dayjur and grade I winner Maplejinsky.
