Arthur Pegg, a Race Track Industry Program senior at the University of Arizona, was awarded the 2009-2010 Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino Responsible Gaming Scholarship.

The scholarship was awarded based on Pegg’s proposal for a research project on the topic of “Responsible Gaming Practices in the Racing Industry.”

The scholarship amount is $5,000 to be divided between two academic semesters.

“Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino is very pleased to award Arthur Pegg the initial Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino Responsible Gaming Scholarship. We carefully reviewed all applications and our committee felt that Mr. Pegg’s entry best represented a mission that is very important to us and our industry,” said Steve Pedigo, simulcast coordinator and responsible gaming committee member.

Pegg, who is working as an intern at Ladbrokes Sportsbook in London, England, for the summer, will present his research findings on Responsible Gaming Programs in New Mexico and Europe at Sunland Park this fall.

“We are excited about this new scholarship opportunity provided by Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino, as it gives the student an opportunity to do research while earning funds to help with their education,” said Doug Reed, director of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program.
