Amsterdam Time Changed, Still a Track Record

Quality Road won the Aug. 3 race at Saratoga

(From Saratoga)

After two NYRA clockers independently re-timed the Aug. 3 Amsterdam Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga, the final time was changed to 1:13.74, still a new track record for the 6 1/2-furlong distance.

The initially reported time for the Amsterdam, won by Edward Evans’ Quality Road , was 1:13.45, breaking a 30-year-old mark of 1:14 2/5 set by Topsider on Aug. 1, 1979.
The Aug. 5 re-timing established fractional times for the Amsterdam of :22.45, :44.55, 1:07.22, and the final time of 1:13.74. In addition to the final time, the half-mile fraction was changed (it was originally :44.95).
