Bell Will Again Serve as Chairman of TOBA

Reynolds Bell will again serve as chairman of TOBA for 2009-10.

Reynolds Bell Jr. was re-elected chairman of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, while Terry Finley joins the board of trustees to serve a three-year term.

TOBA held its annual meeting Aug. 12 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Re-elected to three-year terms on the board of trustees are Gary Biszantz, Seth Hancock, Roy Jackson, Stuart Janney III, and Michael Levy.

Officers for 2009-10 are Bell; Janney, vice-chairman; Dan Metzger, president; Hancock, secretary; and Peter Willmott, treasurer.

“I am flattered by the confidence shown in me by the trustees to be elected to a second term as TOBA chairman,” Bell said in a statement. “TOBA’s American Graded Stakes Committee has affected change in the past year by implementing eligibility requirements for anabolic steroids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and I look forward to working with the other industry organizations to continue to affect the needed change to improve the integrity and position of our sport in the sports and entertainment marketplace.”

The TOBA board also approved the reappointment of John Amerman and Willmott to the AGSC.
