Officials of Calder Casino & Race Course and the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association decided to continue four-day live racing weeks through November and have made adjustments to the fall calendar accordingly.
The State of Florida’s Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering approved the request to remove eight live racing days from the remaining schedule. Maintaining four-day racing weeks yields benefits to both field size and purse account management, officials said. Calder has mostly been on four-day live racing schedules since the season began in April.
“Our four-day racing schedule is proven to be healthy for our business and we appreciate our horsemen for recognizing it,” said Calder vice president and general manager of racing John Marshall.
The eight dates originally scheduled for live racing were:
• Monday, Oct. 5
• Thursday, Oct. 15
• Monday, Oct. 19
• Monday, Oct. 26
• Monday, Nov. 2
• Monday, Nov. 16
• Monday, Nov. 23
• Monday, Nov. 30
