Monmouth Park canceled its live racing program Sept. 11 due to extreme winds and heavy rain.

“As always, our primary concern is for the safety of our jockeys and the horses,” Monmouth vice president and general manager Robert Kulina said. “With the strong wind gusts and the tremendous amount of rain throughout last night and continuing (Friday), we had no choice but to cancel the program.”

All patrons on track received a coupon good for free admission on any live racing day in the future. In addition, patrons can exchange their official track program or Daily Racing Form on a future racing day.

The 2009 live racing season at the New Jersey track runs through Sept. 27. Live racing in September is held every Thursday through Sunday with first post set for 12:50 p.m. EDT.
