Sam Abbey has been named racing secretary for the Quarter Horse meet that begins Nov. 28 at Hialeah Park.

“We are very pleased to have Sam back with us at Hialeah Park,” vice president and general manager Randy Soth said. “His expertise and experience as a racing secretary will ensure full, competitive, and quality fields.”

Abbey began his career in horse racing more than 40 years ago and has worked at major racetracks most of his career. Abbey spent nine years as racing secretary at Hialeah Park, and has held similar positions at Atlantic City Race Course, Delaware Park, and Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots.

“Hialeah Park has always been my favorite racetrack and (Hialeah Park owner) John Brunetti has been supportive of me throughout my career,” Abbey said. “I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity and look forward to making this meet a big success.”

Abbey will recruit stables for the meet by visiting Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Stall applications are due Oct. 16. The first condition book will be out the first week of October.
