Seeking the Best, who stood the last two breeding season at John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington, will stand at John Burness’ Colebrook Farms Stallion Station near Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada.
“With the downturn in the Kentucky marketplace, we feel that Seeking the Best will be an excellent fit for the lucrative Ontario Sires program and rich purse structure available for Ontario breds,” Sikura said about the 8-year-old stallion. “We have supported Seeking the Best heavily each year with mares and will continue this support in Ontario. He is a beautifully bred son of Seeking the Gold with a tremendous female family.”
Based in Japan during his racing career, Seeking the Best ran first or second in 16 of 22 races and earned $1,803,353. He was a group III winner and four times group placed.
A half-brother to grade II winner Mr. Mellon, Irish-bred Seeking the Best is out of the graded stakes-winning Summer Squall mare Mackie, whose half-brother Sea Herowon the 1993 Kentucky Derby (gr. I).
Seeking the Best stood for $6,500 at Hill ‘n’ Dale in 2009. His 2010 fee will be announced later.
