Gozzip Girl Will Pass Breeders' Cup

Filly not maintaining weight, trainer says.

Farnsworth Stable’s Gozzip Girl will not run in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf (gr. IT), trainer Tom Albertrani told Daily Racing Form.

Albertrani told the paper he was not happy with the current condition of Gozzip Girl, who won the American Oaks (gr. IT) in July. The 3-year-old Dynaformer filly, who ran third Oct. 17 in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (gr. IT), has not maintained her weight, the trainer said.

"There are no plans at the moment," Albertrani told the Form. "We'll probably wait for next year. She lost some weight with the travel and tucked up a little bit. We felt we need to give her a little break. We haven't made any definite decisions right now, but we'll pass the Breeders' Cup.

"She had a good season," Albertrani said. "Maybe the soft turf didn't suit her in her last two races."
