Juvy Fillies: Blind Luck the Lukewarm Choice

A field of 12 2-year-old juveniles was drawn for the $2 million event Nov. 6.

A wide-open field of a dozen 2-year-old fillies was drawn for the $2 million Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I), with Blind Luck installed as the lukewarm 3-1 morning-line favorite.

Blind Luck will return to Santa Anita’s Pro-Ride surface a month after capturing the Oct. 4 Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. I) by 2 1/2 lengths at the same 1 1/16-mile distance. The daughter of Pollard's Vision –Lucky One, by Best of Luck, will again be ridden by Tyler Baze and break from post 3.
Jerry Hollendorfer trains and co-owns Blind Luck, who has won three of four lifetime starts. He was bred in Kentucky by Fairlawn Farm.
Connie and Michael is a bit of a surprise as the 4-1 second choice on the morning line considering she has raced just once. The daughter of Roman Ruler was very impressive in that one try, however, winning by 7 3/4 lengths Oct. 17 on the Keeneland Polytrack in a seven-furlong maiden special weight contest. Trained by Ken McPeek, who won the Keeneland training title, Connie and Michael drew post 6 and will be ridden by Kent Desormeaux again.
Three horses were installed as 6-1 choices: Beautician, also trained by McPeek, Darley Alcibiades (gr. I) winner Negligee, and Oak Leaf (gr. I) runner-up Always a Princess.
Graded stakes winners Devil May Care and She Be Wild are both 8-1 on the morning line.
The BC Juvenile Fillies is set for a 1:45 p.m. PDT post on Nov. 6.
