Illinois Derby Next for Ten Most Wanted

Trainer Wally Dollase reports Ten Most Wanted came out of his third-place finish in the El Camino Real Derby (gr. III) at Golden Gate Fields in good shape and is being pointed to the $500,000 Illinois Derby (gr. II) at 1 1/8 miles on April 5.

"We took the blinkers off (in the El Camino Real Derby) and it made a big difference," Dollase said of the son of Deputy Commander. "But (Pat) Day said he didn't want to take too much hold of him because he's so strong and powerful that he's going to get his way anyway. This horse will learn to back up and make one run with time, but right now he's still a little bit on the muscle."

Santa Anita Derby candidate Ministers Wild Cat, second in the El Camino, worked three furlongs on Hollywood Park's fast main track Friday in :38.40 breezing for Neil Drysdale.
