The first shipment of slot machines arrived at Calder Casino & Race Course in Florida Nov. 9 in anticipation of a January 2010 opening of the track's gaming floor.
Track officials and state regulators were at the casino loading dock to check in 242 machines as several local media outlets captured the event on video. Calder’s new casino will feature 1,225 slot machines.
The gaming machines came from WMS of Waukegan, Ill., and were delivered to Calder’s new 104,000-square-foot casino, which is approaching the final phases of construction. The Calder Casino will have three new restaurants.
A poker room opened at Calder in October.
Calder's live Thoroughbred racing season extends through Jan. 2, 2010.
Other South Florida tracks that have installed slots are Gulfstream Park and Isle of Capri at Pompano Park.
