The New York Racing Association has launched a new community relations blog to underscore its commitment to working with organizations in the areas surrounding Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Saratoga Race Course.

The new site, www.nyracommunityrelations.blogspot.com, keeps visitors up-to-date with NYRA’s many community-related efforts, such as the recent Elmont Cleanup Day and the annual Walk for St. Mary’s Kids, as well as future events, including the upcoming “Stocking Stuffer” promotion at Aqueduct to benefit local charities.

Included on the site are posts highlighting different events with which NYRA has been involved, notably the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce 25th Annual Outstanding Small Business Person and Legislative Awards Breakfast, the Long Island Library Resources Council's 14th annual conference, Saratoga Hospital's Annual Run Oct. 4 and the American Heart Association's Annual North Country Heart Walk on October 24.

Links to industry-related charitable groups such as the Belmont Child Care Association, the Backstretch Employees Service Team, the Backstretch Educational Fund, and Racetrack Chaplaincies may be found on the site, as well as information about local organizations that respond to community concerns, such as Gateway Youth Outreach and the Elmont Coalition for Sustainable Development.

“The creation of this site demonstrates NYRA’s commitment to upholding the ideals of community service and support,” said Joanne Adams, NYRA’s manager of community relations. “We hope the site will not just offer information and raise awareness of the many positive connections between NYRA and local charitable organizations but also encourage people to join us in community-related efforts.”
