Grade I Winner Mr. Sidney to France

Grade I winner Mr. Sidney will stand at Alec Head's Haras du Quesnay

Mr. Sidney , a 2009 grade I winner, will enter stud in 2010 at Alec Head’s Haras de Quesnay near Deauville, France. The 5-year-old son of Storm Cat will stand for 9,000 euros.

A $3.9-million Keeneland September yearling, Mr. Sidney was a leading turf miler this year. He won the Maker’s Mark Mile Stakes (gr. IT) at Keeneland and the Firecracker Handicap (gr. IIT) at Churchill Downs and ran third in the Shadwell Turf Mile Stakes (gr. IT) at Keeneland.

Mr. Sidney won or placed in eight of 13 races and earned $486,875 for Lee Einsidler and Daniele Churchill’s Circle E Racing Stable. John Kimmel trained Mr. Sidney at 2, and Bill Mott conditioned him at 3.

“We weighed offers, both domestically and internationally, but we thought going to France would give Mr. Sidney the best chance for success as a stallion,” Einsidler said. “Bill Mott, who trained him, has known Alec Head for many years and has trained for him. That relationship gave us a degree of comfort, as did the recommendation of Bill, who was really responsible for the horse’s success.”

Bred in Kentucky by Hilbert Thoroughbreds, Mr. Sidney was purchased at Keeneland by Kimmel as agent for Circle E Racing. He was consigned by Lane’s End, agent.

Einsidler, chief executive officer of Sidney Frank Importing Co., and Churchill named Mr. Sidney for Frank.

Mr. Sidney is out of grade I winner Tomisue’s Delight (by A.P. Indy),  a full sister to Horse of the Year Mineshaft .
