This free Webinar on "Managing Noninfectious Respiratory Problems" is presented by Ed Robinson, BVetMed, PhD (Michigan State University). Robinson is the Matilda R. Wilson Chair in Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Michigan State University. He received his BVetMed from the Royal Veterinary College, London UK, in 1966 and became a member in the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons that year. He receive his PhD in physiology from the University of California, Davis, in 1972, and he was conferred the title Docteur honoris causa from Liege veterinary school in Belgium in 1992.
Robinson studies the mechanisms of lung dysfunction in domestic animals and humans. His work includes equine airway disease, automatic regulation of airway smooth muscle; muscus secretion; neuromuscular regulation of nasopharynx; and the therapy of airway disease. Robinson has been investigating the pathogenesis of chronic, noninfectious airway disease, particular heaves, in horses. His interests range from the basic science of autonomic regulation of airways and mucus secretion to clinical methods for the treatment of chronic airway disease, especially the use of bronchodilators and corticosteroids. He directs the Equine Pulmonary Research Laboratory at MSU, which is dedicated to studying the pathogenesis and treatment of diseases of the air passages of the horse.
