(Edited Fasig-TIpton press release)
A Smarty Jones weanling and six mares have been added to the Fasig-Tipton Texas December mixed sale, which will be held Dec. 14 at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. All the horses will be offered by Legacy Bloodstock, with the six mares consigned on behalf of B. Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky.
All 14 mares in the sale offered on behalf of Spendthrift will sell with a 2010 no guarantee season to the farm’s new Louisiana-based stallion My Pal Charlie.
“I think it’s great that Spendthrift Farm has decided to expand its participation here in the Southwest with these quality mares,” said Tim Boyce, the director of sales for Fasig-Tipton Texas. “They are bringing stakes-winning mares and half-sisters to several graded stakes winners, like well-known sire Marquetry. The right to breed back to My Pal Charlie should interest anyone looking for a bargain in this market.”
Pedigrees for the supplemented Spendthrift horses can be viewed online at the Fasig-Tipton Web site, www.fasigtipton.com. The sale is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. (CST).
