Fasig-Tipton Ramps Up Gulfstream Sponsorship

Sales company is title sponsor of new festival and Fountain of Youth Stakes.

Fasig-Tipton has ramped up its race sponsorship at Gulfstream Park as the Lexington sales company and Florida racetrack unveiled the new “Fasig-Tipton Filly Festival” to be run during the 2010 meet.

A Gulfstream Park press release said Fasig-Tipton will become the title sponsor of both the filly festival and the grade II, $250,000 Fountain of Youth Stakes, which the sales company sponsored for the first time last year. The Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth is a traditional prep race for the Florida Derby (gr. I).
The Fasig-Tipton Filly Festival is scheduled for Feb.  27 and includes the $150,000 Davona Dale (gr. II), Sabin (gr. III), Very One (gr. IIIT) and the Honey Fox (gr. IIIT).
“We’re sure both the festival and the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth will reflect the excitement and quality (that) horsemen as well as fans have come to know and expect from both partners,” said Gulfstream Park president and general manager Ken Dunn.
“This gives us an opportunity to showcase the finest group of 2-year-olds offered for sale, alongside the finest group of Thoroughbreds in training,” said Boyd Browning, president of Fasig-Tipton.
North America’s oldest Thoroughbred auction company formed in 1898 by William B. Fasig and Edward A. Tipton, Fasig-Tipton holds its select 2-year-old in training sale at Calder. It is scheduled for March 2 this year.
In 2008, Fasig-Tipton was purchased by Dubai-based Synergy Investments, which is headed by Abdulla Al Habbai, a close associate of Sheikh Mohammed, the ruler of Dubai.
