La Ville Rouge Aborted for 2010

Foal would have been first filly produced from the dam of Barbaro.

One day after Barbaro’s brother Lentenor  broke his maiden in impressive fashion, it was learned that La Ville Rouge, the dam of both horses, aborted her 2010 foal.

The foal, which was aborted Dec. 24, 2009, had been sired by Dynaformer and would have been a full sibling to the 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner and would have been the first filly produced from La Ville Rouge.
All of the offspring of La Ville Rouge are bred and owned by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jackson.
“I regret to inform the general public that La Ville Rouge aborted her foal on Dec. 24, 2009,” Headley Bell , managing partner of Mill Ridge Farm said in a statement. “It is particularly sad, for she was believed to be carrying a full sister to Barbaro. Nature can play a very cruel hand, but Mr. and Mrs. Jackson intend on breeding her back to Dynaformer this year and hope for the best.”
Noting that the announcement of La Ville Rouge was made one day after Lentenor generated buzz with his impressive turf win at Gulfstream Park, Bell said of the ups and downs in horse racing and breeding, “It is nature’s way.”
